Where did the Continental Army come from and what did the British and most
of the world recognize them as?
How was the army formed?
And the leader of this army (General) received his appointment and training
at what academy? Any previous military service?
If the British had defeated the uprising by the British subjects in the
thirteen colonies what would the Continental Armies officers had been hanged
for?
And the militia would all go home and go back to farming and paying taxes to
the British.
Luckily this did not happen.
In general an army made up of citizens is a Militia regardless of what they
call themselves.
I believe(my opinion) That the Idea of a Continental Army was the first step
in forming a new government and the first step in the creation of our
country the United States of America.
By doing this our fore fathers brought together a rabble and began attacking
as one with the combined efforts of all the 13 militias.
they called the combined Militias the Continental Army.
The Militias won the right to be recognized as an Army by the world when
they defeated the British not before.

Dave
