a week or so ago, I asked if anyone had any information about a "spare-wheel
mount extender bracket" that I had seen on some USMC mutts recently.
I got several replies with ideas and suggestions as to the purpose of the
mod..... but yesterday I received a reply from the USMC Systems Command
officer and I thought it would be useful to share his reply with you. So here
it is............

We believe the bracket was probably moved over to accommodate mounting a
radio antenna at the back of the vehicle. Look in the floor board and
dash and see if there are some extra holes drilled if so then this is a
radio vehicle and that's why the bracket was moved..............
