I was in Columbia on a mission trip a few years back in an isolated border
town, myself and several others were held at gun point (A beautiful FAL .308
side folder on full auto) by a couple of Columbian soldiers who were curious
about what a bunch of gringos were doing in THEIR country. I found that the
best thing to do in these situations is to smile and sing like crazy. I
don't know if they thought we were nuts or the singing was that bad but they
let us go after a couple hours.

Not surprising. First rule of dealing with a 'situation' is rapid,
brutal assault to gain control followed by an overwhelming show of force to
maintain that control and intimidate any possible thought of resistance.
SWAT teams don't dress that way because they get factory seconds pricing on
bad dye lots.
Only a demented person would use a side by side shotgun to resist 3
POLICIA armed with FALs or Uzis. Now they only have to maintain control.
The hard part is over since 'THEY' have disarmed the populace for 'THEIR'
own good. Only problem is it isn't the populace that is being referred to
when the word 'THEIR is used.

I've always found it strange how the countries with the lowest
firearms ownership had the most well armed cops (SMGs and battle
rifles slung on the streets all the time).
