The documents for my M38A1 say to use a gasoline with a minimum octane of
60. Wouldn't using premium with an octane of 91 be bad for my jeep in some
way?

I won't get in to this much but I am a certified mechanic and use
premium in every thing I own down to my tractor. Among these is my
service truck which has 445,000 miles on it. I have torn down many
engines and a few that have only have had premium only, they are usually
not nearly as worn out. When the lead was removed from fuel it changed
the manuals so don't go by what your CCKW manual says about this. Fire
up the flames.
