There is no difference based solely on the builder. There are numerous different models, such as the LDT-456-1C, LDT-465-1D, LDS-465-1A, etc. Each of these vary, but not because of maker. Within each model, there were component changes made to try to improve the product. But again, the builder was immaterial.

No. The Multifuel engine as we know it was developed by Continental based on a MAN design. This was in the late 50's (I can look up exact date if you need it). Continental also produced the engines initial. In the mid-60's Hercules started winning the production contracts from Uncle Sam. However, Continental remained the developing contractor of record, and did much engineering work. The two firms bid against each through the procurement life of the Multifuel engine.
