Esteemed MV owners of the List:
In looking over the years, I think that MV owners may forget that they are
the "idols" of the reenacting community.
Yes, there are some folks that are scared of you, but hell, there are folks
scared of babies... forget them.
You own the most wonderful toys of all. You own rolling thunder.

If there are events that are MV unfriendly, then usually, it is because of
other influences, like lack of terrain, roads, land owner rules. The large
FIG event is tight on vehicles becuase it is tight on fighting space and
roads. It more the social event than the tactical. For a reenactor to hear
the rumble of Detroit steel, or the sound of a BMW coming over the hill, you
have made their existence. To be fighting the Hun and have vintage aircraft
fly over in simulated strafing run, you have no idea of the absolute joy
(hell, orgasm). Most of the vehicle owners in the reenacting world want
vehicles as "spot on" as MVPA members. But, they also balance the fact that
they are just as anal about their kits and they use their jeeps, trucks,
armour and such in the field... guys sitting in them, on them, chasing them.
A different approach. But still a MV owner.

There is an event in OK, at Camp Gruber.
http://www.gvbsoldat.com/gruber2003/index.htm It is on base with two combat
towns. Last year two large reenactments were held their, and we assist MV
owners in getting there. We are even looking at landing craft. Yes, if you
are a vehicle owner that is willing to put you baby in fray, you would have
to wear the correct uniform, but you will never get a greater appreciation
for your effort. MV owners are the same as Reenactor, just with much bigger,
faster babies. You appreciate history, military design, and OD. There was a
half-track there last year that even had a chicken cage tied on the back,
with live chickens. Folks talked about that for months. WW2 was a vehicle
war, esp. on the allies side. You are the folks that can help the reenacting
community better the preservation of these artifacts through offering
assistance, guidance and cooperation.

Remember, you and your baby make events. period.

regards
Bill
