At this place on my M35, there is a large piece of reinforcing 'angle iron', riveted to the frame through which the steering arm protrudes, and on this, before and aft of the steering arm, are two
bolts with 1" wide metal plates under them. The two plates seem to be about 1/16" thick. Perhaps they are instead of washers for the four bolts.
