on my list of things to do is to check the pull of the m-35 winch to
failure of the shear pin with a scale. this is in preparation to
mounting a winch on my new creation (m-35a8) and drive it with a hyd
motor. this way i will not have a shear pin, just a preassure relief.
currently i use a grade 2 steel bolt, and while i do not reccomend this
without more data, yes they do shear, and i am sure the safety factor on
the cable is quite high.
