Royce,

It is just starting to be issued in large numbers. I was at Ft. Knox a
couple weeks ago and saw a Captain in the temperate version. I have also
seen some shots of Marines shipping out for Middle East duty wearing the
desert version, like Ernie was. However, everybody else in the shot was
still wearing three color desert.

New uniforms phase in slowly at first, then all of a sudden... BANG... no
more old uniforms.

Also, the Army armor officers I was with at Ft. Knox all said they would
gladly exchange their m/81 woodland sets for the new MARPAT uniform. The
Marines anticipated this since the m/81 was based on a Marine pattern,
which they alledge the Army stole from them (they did <g>). So if you
look closely at the MARPT you will see tiny USMC symbols printed over the
background color. I've got a couple of MARPAT items in my camo
collection, although they are Chinese copies. The real stuff is just
starting to become available to collectors, but it is pricey!

Oh... and the Canadian CADPAT suits kick MARPAT's ass :-) Saw thre
Canadian officers wearing theirs down at Ft. Knox too, and it is an
impressive uniform to be sure. They are also DAMNED proud of it too,
since this is their first camouflage uniform in the Canadian Army's
history (excepting airborne, which used British DPM).
