rear main seal is leaking, after all it is probably more than 20 years
old. remove transmission. remove flywheel. if you have a fiber clutch
disk throw it away and get a ceramic one. resurface flywheel even if it
looks ok. new pressure plate, or resurface old one. get a new oil seal.
now this sounds obvious, but i mean a NEW one, not new old stock. napa
has them. nos are old and will be hard and fail soon. remove seal
retainer from engine and drill three 1/4" holes across the bottom behind
the seal so oil can get back into oil pan easier. do not remove oil pan.
do not overfill transmission, in fact just a tad low is better. (there
is no seal on front of trans) all this can be done in half a day with
proper tools and equipment, but it is no small job.
