correct, the brakes on many old trucks are not spring chamber and need
air to apply. my m-656 is that way so until you have air you have NO
brakes. and then if you loose air for some reason you have NO brakes. by
the way for those of you who get military vehicle magazine, look on page
34 of april 2003. i have one of these trucks and am going to sell it
this spring. there are less than a dozen still running in the US and
mine is in excellent shape with 2700 miles and $4000 worth of new tires.
