Hi Mike,

Since I have been running my deuce on single 900x20's for several years, I
may be able to help you with some related information.

There are two articles in Military Vehicles Magazine, authored by yours
truly that address the issue of single tires. The first one, "Dual to single
wheel conversion" was published in issue #79 (May/June, 2000) the second,
"How to drive on side slopes-safely" in issue #87 (October, 2001).
If you don't have access to these issues, I can make copies and mail them to
you. Scanning them may also be possible. Let me know if you are interested.

I have not used the larger 1100x20 tires, but kept the 900x20's mostly for
financial reasons.
There are 20 inch steel wheels "dished out" differently for use with single
wheels only. They add a few inches to the track width of the vehicle.
The deuce was designed to be able to run on singles as a number of variants
are shown in manuals from the mid sixties. The M44, M47, V-17A/MTQ and the
V-18A/MTQ all had single 1100x20 tires.

In general, I find no reason(s) to ever go back to duals.

Cheers,
Bjorn
