Mark the loops are at the rear and the straps are at the front these straps
are for holding the Missile launch controller on the platform when it is in
the stowed position you will probably never use them unless you install a
TOW missile system. When the missile controller is up in the mount on the
roof of the vehicle the platform is used as an adjustable step for the
gunner to stand on most 6 foot tall people never raise it but it can be
raised to get some more height if you are a short person or if you do not
mind showing a bigger target to the skinnies.
Most of the time the platform is used for the M60, M2 50 CAL or MK19 machine
guns and for the gunner to stand on and most of the time the extra height is
not needed. its function was designed around the need to use the optic sight
properly on the TOW Missile system as line of sight is critical so a height
adjustment was built in to the gunners platform.

  Hi Dave,
Here are the photos that he sent me. I hope this explains it better. I
have never seen one.

Is this the gunners platform if it is the loops should face the rear. In My
Humvee the gunners seat was a swinging strap.

Subject: [MV] Gunner's seat for Hummvee question

I have a question for a convoy participant with a new toy. He just
acquired a "gunner's seat" for his Hummvee. One edge has footman loops
and the other does not. Can anyone tell me which side faces toward the
forward end of the truck? He sent me a diagram, but I can't seem to
post to the forum with a photo attached.
Thanks,
Bruce
