Yes, you can. Drop 24 to 12v by inserting one light bulb in series. Drop
variable amounts of voltage using a 120v trouble-light. Cut the plug off
and use varying wattage bulbs in the trouble-light to effect varying
amounts of voltage drop. Higher wattages mean lower resistances and less
drop to the trailer. An average trailer light of 15 watts runs about an
amp. A 120v light, operating at 120v also draws about an amp. Use the
trouble light to drop 12v off of the truck and you're left with about
12v for the trailer. Got bigger trailer lights? Use a bigger wattage
trouble-light. Check with a voltmeter to see what voltage drop you're
getting. Work up on it, starting with a low wattage bulb. Jim
