Howdy List,
This weekend, at a county auction, I bought a diesel1984 VW crew cab, drop
side, Transporter. It is painted with CARC in a woodland cammo pattern. It
has '04957' miles on the odometer. The body is very straight and and rust
free. It has a pintle hitch but no discernable bumper numbers. The rear
bumper is slightly bent as it appears someone tried to pull something too
heavy.
The story from the county is that they got it from the San Antonio DRMO
after it spent its life on an aircraft carrier hanger deck hauling stuff
around. The county used it until the fuel pump gave out and then surplussed
it.
Anyone ever heard of these things being used on aircraft carriers?
