Re: [MV] Re: D.O.T. loves M35s cause they're safe!

Yes, HMMWV's drivers are at extremely grave risk
according while operating that machine, least
according to our all-knowing, always right, Dept. Of
Transgression, er, I mean Transportation.

Especially if a HMMWV is driven on the road ... on a
public road at that. That's really asking for
trouble. D.O.T. need only look as far as the mounting
evidence of the carnage these killers have caused on
highways. Killers that have been banned by our DOT
because they they have no mandatory DOT safety
equipment (unlike my deuce which is much, much safer
because of the many thoughtful safety devices built-in
to this really really safe-truck decades ago by
"safety" conscious engineers.)

Just take a look at all this safety I got and compare
that to your un-safe HMMWV:

1. I have an enourmously large, rigid front bumper
that completely avoids any possible damage from the
weenie "5 mph" crash bumpers found on DOT approved
civilans vehicles by going right over the top of them
because our bumpers are 6 feet off the ground. This
designed so we'll likely just decapitate the offending
driver that bumps into us or at least scare them so
bad they will never operate a vehicle again.

2. My oversized steering wheel acts like a big
catchers mit when my oversized body is thrown forward
the 1.5 inches that seperates my belly from the wheel.
Brilliant engineering! A second (redundant almost)
safety device, a seatbelt, keeps me glued in place.

I've never had anything big enough hit me to cause me
to be jolted yet, however last week I did discover a
Mini-Cooper stuck under the rear axle once... must
have driven 20 miles before I heard the driver's
pleading for mercy. (Let that be a lesson for
following too close)

3. #3? Hmmm...there is no 3, thats all my safety
equipment. Just one big fat high mounted bumper and
skinny seat seat belt and DOT thinks my 13,000 lb
monster vehicle is safe enough... good call DOT.

Guess D.O.T. just hates HMMWV's, eh?

P.S. Little side note, Yes Jim, U.S.A., is commonly
referred to as a democracy, a misnomer to be sure,
since it is a republic. In actual practice, it is a
socialist republic. Now in the "Peoples Republik of
Mexifornia" where I live, this place is more what I
like to fondly call a Maoist-terrorist 3rd world
state. Leaders like Stalin, Edi Amin, Atilla the Hun,
Karl Marx or even Hitler, can't hold a candle to our
leaders like Rep. Maxine Waters, Gov. Gray-out Davis
or Lt. Gov. Cruze "M.E.Ch.E.-Man" Bustamonte who will
soon be our new governor-general, second in power only
Mexico's el Presidente'.
