The one good thing about living here in the Peoples
Republik of Kalifornia (Mexi-fornia) is it is like
Europe when it comes to languages. Most people under
30 speak at least two or more languages and we can
travel short distances and be in neighborhoods where
few speak english.

As you might guess Spanish and English are top on our
list, but in my area Swedish, Thai, Vietnamese,
Cantonese, Hmong and Russian are fairly common.
Consequently I know how to say "hello, where is the
bathroom" in 6 languages.
