Vietnam is not Iraq. Don't ever make the mistake of thinking you can
just pluck one thing out of history and, without any more thought than
that, compare it to something else. History doesn't work like that. The
past is only a vague and often misleading template for what might happen.

No more stupid than to claim you can prove something wouldn't have
happened which in fact already happened.

The convoy was hit by a superior force in a tight urban environment by a
determined foe with the weapons to destroy even heavily armored vehicles.
 If you can find me a similar situation in Vietnam where gun trucks alone
resulted in no US casualties or captured members, then you'd come closer
to comparing apples to apples.

As a military and general 20th Century historian, I stand by my statement
without hesitation. Gun trucks are just a tool, not a magic wand of wonder.
