CUCV Batteries

This is a subject I have not seen covered in this list:

For all CUCV series you use a "group 31" battery. The battery trays
were stamped to use both the group 31 and the 6HL. Most all of the CUCV's
that I have seen in service very seldom ever use the 6HL mainly because to
cost and they found that the 6HL is NOT a satisfactory battery at all and
actually don't last long in this application. It has to do with the
charging system in that the 6HL's always overcharge because they are a type
of a "deep cycle" and almost always boil over in the CUCV system. All
National Guard and Army posts use the "civilian" battery and Deka batteries
are probably the best you can buy. The 6HL batteries look nice and
impressive in there but their cost is way above the actual application.
