Counting the two starter bolts the total bolts to remove are 17.
6 ea 5/16" bolts are installed from the front to the rear in the two verticle sides of the block and are usually buried in grease and dirt.
2 ea 1/2" bolts in the starter.
9 ea 3/8" bolts thru the edges of the bell. (one of these has the stay cable attached)
