I had great luck with FreightQuote.com. Picked Watkins off the list of quotes
and got a 800 lb palate of junk shipped at a reasonable rate. It was shipped
from a private company, no GL involved in that deal. Anyone who uses a
commerical shipper to go to a GL site is asking for trouble. The process is way too
complicated for your average trucker, no offense to truckers on the list,
between the check-in process at most bases, finding the DRMO once on base and then
he's still gotta get some service out of a minimum wage, low bid contractor
aka GL. It's kind of like trying to buy a repair part for a military vehicle at
NAPA and sending a stranger to get it for you. The average commerical guy
doesn't like complication or a challenge.....he gets paid the same reguardless and
has little patience.
