Lube Order - Slightly OT

List,

I'm in a situation where I need some unrelated lube order information. I have a customer that is having a problem with his customer. No matter...

Can anyone point me to any lube interval specs regarding any military vehicle that would've had a solid front axle with king pins?

I'm not sure there is such a vehicle in the US military fleet.

Basically, my customer reconditions front I-Beams. His biggest customer (a VERY large parcel handling company) has extended the lube of the king pins out to every 6 months in a procedure they call 'Flex PMI'...and it seems they want to go to 12 months. Yes, that's greasing the king pins once a year! Anyway, they are complaining that they axles aren't lasting long enough...surprise, surprise.

We will be meeting with 'Mr. Brown' in a couple weeks and we are preparing a huge amount of data to give to them regarding lube intervals.

We currently have lube specs from General Motors (the manufacturer), Chevron (The lube used) and I'm still looking for others. Currently, I'm waiting for information from SAE. I was just sitting here thinking about what the military would recommend and decided to drop a post to the list...given all the knowledge here.

Please don't respond with 'Try this type of grease,' or 'Use autolubers,' etc. I just need some lube interval info from the US Government regarding kingpins in front steer axles.

Thanks a bunch,

Kent
