Could be that one of the bolts holding the torque-converter onto the flex
plate has worked its way loose and is striking some piece of the casting or
cover as it goes around. I had one where the rebuilder had actually mounted
the flex-plate on *backwards*, and while everything bolted up etc. etc., the
flex plate flexed and the clearance from bolt-heads to casting was reduced
enough to cause frequent contact. That was on a Chev 350/ THM 350
transmission combination, but I could see it happening with the 6.2/THM 400
as well.
