I have seen a photo of a CUCV on the same assembly line as civilian trucks that was painted 4-color MERDEC camo. I'd guess this was '83 and was a very early unit, since 3-color was the standard by later in the 80's. However, I have seen other US Army photos that show 4-color M1010, M1009, M1028 & M1008's. These could all have been test vehicles, though. I'm pretty sure my 1987 was originally solid 383. It was repainted solid 383 at some point, but I don't think it was to cover up another paint scheme. The interior was certainly solid 383 green from the factory.
