I've had them rebuilt at a local shop which also did them for Canadian
Forces Base Chilliwack when it was still around. The guy's excellent, and I
think we pay about CDN 160.00 or so, but I get them back with new 24V
solenoids, so it's a deal. I've replaced the CUCV starters with
off-the-shelf 12V ones without any trouble too, so the choice is yours.

(I rewire the starter relays so that they throw 12V instead of 24V, but
others have stated that procedure is unnecessary so long as you don't "wind
and wind and wind" the engines trying to to overcome some fuel drawback or
other hard-starting issue.)
