Just how bad is your mileage? I have a 76 with same setup and routinely get 11-12 mpg. I buy mid grade unleaded at Amoco, Exxon, etc. No discount gas places. I put a NEW Holley carburetor on last summer, from Saturn Surplus. Don't remember how much, but was very reasonable. Gas mileage had gotten down to about 8mpg.
