What would you call someone crawling around in
your property under the guise of "inspection"
when they' can't stop from flipping switches?
Would it have been better if they'd keyed the mic
on a local EMS channel? Would that be good? How
about if they'd somehow broken something?

If they don't know what something is, they
SHOULDN'T touch it! This is almost the same
attitude that cops have when they take firearms
out of evidence and steal them or at best take
them to the range to play with and return them
broken or damaged.

Well, the goon at the post seemed to know. What
would you tell a cop that was telling you that
such and such firearm is illegal to own when you
had 10 in your collection and you knew for a fact
is was quite legal?

Curiosity is not the same as heavy handed
intimidation. A spot on agent would have checked
his watch list (they have lists of what can come
and go you know) and compared it to the gear.
Polite questions asking where it was purchased, a
request for the registration of the vehicle would
have been a good start too. Canada DOES use lots
of military gear and it stands to reason that
even if the US stops allowing sale of such items
here, unless it's specifically banned from
possession, then they can't really stop someone
from owning it there who comes here to visit can
they?

An older Security type in Chicago stopped me from
bringing an ASP baton on the airplane. I'd thrown
it in a bag once I'd arrived in Chicago years ago
and forgotten it was there for the return flight.
He knew exactly what he was looking for and knew
exactly what the story was when he pulled it out
and saw the look of horror on my face. I think he
liked my response to his query of should he pop
it in a box so I could check it? "Nope, I deserve
to loose it for being such a idiot and not double
checking the bag before I came to the security
post". HE was polite, quick and did his job.
Further, he'd seen the screen, watched another
TSA dork inspect the bag and not find it, he
however found it while I stood there expectantly,
wondering what he'd seen on the X-ray screen.

Sadly there aren't enough old codgers like this
guard that actually know their jobs and there are
too many dorks in the TSA.

Specious.
