In 1994 I took my M16 to the D Day 50th and on 6th June went onto Omaha
beach and met veterans of the 467thAAA who landed in M16's on Omaha -
perchance my M16 was marked up in their markings including the cartoon on
the side armour I copied from a photo of their M16's being loaded stateside.
They were delighted to spot my M16 in their unit markings 50 years to the
day they landed.. One of them, Hyman Haas is featured in several books such
as David Howarth's "Dawn of D Day" and Stephen Ambroses " D Day"
There are also pictures of the 467ths halftracks shot to bits on Omaha in D
Day - Then and Now by Winston Ramsey ( and thats a 2 volume work that is
indispensible)

Looking at the pics, you have a very nice genuine M16 and not the more
common M16A1 conversion. Its in 14th Armoured markings. Blue lettering on
hood is pre 1943 i think but I may be wrong. The only other bit you seem to
be missing is the radio box behind passenger seat.
I kinda miss mine but it went to a good home - make sure you check the idler
arms and bogie wheel bolts for tightness as they work loose and you dont
want to have that by the side of the road.
Cheers, NIGE
