I thought one of the problems with the duals was that in muck/off-road
conditions, the space between the duals would jam up with muck and mire and
leave you with essentially four really wide racing slicks with zip traction.
I guess the trade-off is that your ground pressure is dispersed better with
duals as opposed to singles though, so...dunno. I've had that 'racing
slick' thing happen with the NDCC duals on both the M109 and M35 in the
rainy spring gumbo that once passed for relatively reasonable soil, but
haven't really tried a singled-up truck in the same situation for the
purposes of comparison (due to being happy enough just to get the hell out
of the muckhole and back to dry land. :)
