Despatches from our Normandy correspondant......

From: Nigel Hay (Nigel@milweb.net)
Date: Tue Jun 01 2004 - 21:05:06 PDT

Already huge amounts of HMV's have arrived in a pretty wet and damp
Normandy - I watched the 200 vehicle convoy arrive at the IMPS campsite at
Benouville, with similar numbers passing on the main road from Ouistreham
to other camp sites.
The coastal roads are already very busy, adding to the delays are huge
numbers of French military, most full time and reservists. Overhead French
Mirage jets and helicopters pass keeping the airspace clear - up in the
Omaha end its the Blackhawks.
As the convoy moved in under police escort, it was filmed from above by a
military helicopter.

Tommorow I am taking a 40 vehicle convoy to the sites of three Victoria
Cross actions - Stan Hollis on D Day, David Jamieson at Grimbosq,Sidney
Bates (who died the next day of his wounds) at Pavee ( which I look out at
as I write from my foxhole) We have 3 British veterans coming with us. Its
gonna be a kind of War Walk as well as we take Stan Hollis's route from King
Beach inland to Mont Fluery.

Sad news I am afraid, we hear that a Dutch MV collector was involved in an
accident in a Dodge at Rouen en route and died of his injuries. I dont have
any information but I am sure we will all have our thoughts.

I have pasted part of MILWEB's events list below for your info - look out
for us all on TV! Nige
