BATTERY PROBLEM

Hi All ,
Following John Brians problem brought to mind one I came across
awhile back ! The battery was not very old and had been working fine
,connected up by a screw down the middle of the post .
It was then used on a vehicle {MV } that had normal clamp type connector
,every thing lit up but it was as though the battery was flat on starting .
Much head scratching and recharging did no good .
It turned out to be that the battery posts are lead in the middle and an
antimony lead post is cast over it . The screw went into the lead but the
clamp failed to work because there was a layer of lead sulphate separating
the two parts that had a high resistance .
ONE to look out for in a good ---- dead battery ?
I put it in my little book of obscure faults !

may help some one Noel
