OK I'm going to let the cat back out of the bag here for the benefit of our
newer members. Air locking differentials do exist for the M35 trucks. In circa
68 or so Norway purchased a bunch of the M44A2 series of trucks for their
army. One of the very unique features was air locking differetials in all three
positions. There was a bank of air switches like we use on or airshift transfer
cases. A total or 3 switches were present. 1 operated the locking front
diff, a second operated the front engagement of the transfer case and the 3rd
operated the locking differetials in both rear axles. To my knowledge, none of the
fronts are here in the states. There are/were some rears in the states that
were either new or rebuilt in the crate. The centers cannot be swapped because
of opertional parts on the housing. They are not cheap but probably still a
few left in the states.
