Good evening all.
I am "reconditioning" my steering column on my scout car and have a question
for those who might have an answer. The main shaft appears to be hollow. I
have never seen a steering column shaft that was hollow. Is it hollow for a
good reason or can I slide a proper size bolt into the void, weld it out and
put a nut on the bolt to hold the wheel on? Or would that cover up some
part down inside I will need to get back too? The threads on the shaft are
eat up and I just don't trust them. It's not enough metal there to retread.
