List,

IT LIVES!!! With the help of a house call from Dr. T one of my VERY MV wise
local pals it runs great.

The problem was VERY off timing.. 30+degrees offs(or more)... took a lot of
bashing on the distributor to bring it back to approaching the 2 degrees it
is supposed to be set at.

Now what the L could cause it to drift that far off? Given amount of effort
it took to adjust the dist it did not just move by itself.. keep in mind
gang I have no clue how this stuff works let alone how it gets messed up so
it does not work.

I want to thank everyone who contributed suggestions. The coil and carb
rebuild kit will not be wasted
I also plan to put a filter in the fuel line as it came w/o any from the Mil
Reserve... either this one never had one on it or it was discarded years
ago.

Now to get it painted, fix the oil leak, new wiper blades, wheel cylinders..
then I can start in on the M38A1...first step is to get it not to be a
"flintstone mobile"... more on that later.

Thanks again gang.

DL
