Subject: [MV] LDT-465-1D tuning

List

I dropped my M35 off at a diesel shop today to have
the heads retorqued, compensator bypassed, and the
pump turned up. The engine is strong running, low
hour 1D multifuel. The mechanic/shop owner has worked
on countless multifuels used mostly in stationary use
such as water pumps, irrigation pumps, etc. He seems
to know what he is talking about but I would like the
list's opinion. I told him to turn the pump up to
gain 20-30 horsepower and that didn't seem to be a
problem. The question is, is there a ballpark figure
of what kind of torque to expect? He also said the
more fuel we give it, the more boost the turbo will
provide. Is 15 lbs. possible? I asked about cooling
issues, pyrometers, boost gauges, etc. and they were
deemed unnecessary. Does bypassing the compensator
actually help that much? I'm not looking for a lot of
power, just enough to maybe pull fourth gear in the
steeper grades out west. Any thoughts or advice is
welcome.

Thanks

Marc
