Hi Rick & the gang ,
DO NOT run the alternator WITHOUT a
regulator , and just as important DO NOT run it without that it is connected
to a battery of the right voltage 12 or 24 v you may well destroy it if you
do .
Properly connected the voltage is easy to test , it should read 28-29 V no
more . The output amps will require more than JUST a multi meter but a good
guide would be to turn on all the electrics and see that the voltage holds
up , FROM COLD put your finger on the body or better the laminated section
and under load this will quickly become warm / hot , very simple guide that
something is happening . WATCH OUT FOR MOVING PARTS IN DOING THIS !
                                   Good Luck Noel
