RE: [MV] Need Rear Main Seal for M35...Where To Buy?

Jim:

Although it is an expensive seal, I believe that the Caterpillar rear main
seal for their 3208 engine is a good "upgrade" to the factory rear-main seal
on the LDT-465 series.

The part number that I have used 3 times is CAT seal #7W-3200. The part
number will occasionally include a letter at the end (that I am told denotes
the country of the seal's manufacture). All my seals actually bore the
number 7W-3200 G.

I paid something like $35 or $40 for the seal. Fairly certain that you
could get an NOS seal for under $20. Since the seal can't be changed
without pulling the flywheel, I didn't see the cost factor as a serious
issue when compared with the labor involved in doing the seal job twice.

If you have any questions, send me an e-mail off-list.
