Excellent story Nige.....

We have a guy in our 14th Armored unit that too was there at Dien Bien Phu,
a German, ex Hitler Youth in WWII that joined up. He tells many stories
about his cadre officers and such that he served with. Explained that the
Russian film makers that accompanied the Viet Min had chained what remained
of the French M24 Tanks together so one could tow the others with the decks
covered by Viet Min waving flags past the cameramen for propaganda use.

He insists they did not surrender, rather they ceased fire.......he also
tells that most the Vietnamese, loyal to the French were executed.

He wrote a book about his experiences that I will post title too when I can
find it.....

Jon
