It was a long standing regulation that if you were
going to bring A-N-Y american military vehicle back to
the US, you had to prove it was not part of
Lend-Lease, which most of the time was akin trying to
prove there are no UFO's.
They have some funny regs at State which is strictly
enforced by customs and they can all be traced back to
WWII and US auto makers who didn't want that stuff
coming back.
So, even 60 years later you still can't bring a half
track, a CCKW, or even more modern Mutts without this
big hassle of PROVING it's not covered by Lend Lease.
Oh sure, there are ways of doing it that aren't legal.
Lets just say it happens from time to time via Canada.
