I have two contacts that are NCOs in the 101st Airborne. Both, after their initial assignments in Afghanistan, said that they and their men LOVED the Gators and they were the best vehicles the Army "never bought."

FWIW, seems there are two sides to every opinion!

I've also heard that the Gator-type vehicles were not holding up "Over
There". They are made for golf courses and suburban homeowners who don't
have anything like the harsh conditions the military puts their
equipment into.
I, too, have heard that the US military is looking at resurrecting the
M-274 type but with diesel power of course...even going back to the
original manufacturer to discuss it.
