We have pretty much beat the scale thread to a pulp. Let us start on seat
belts.

Tennessee says that ALL people in vehicle will wear seat belts. Certain
height and weight people must ride in approved child seats -no age limit
stated-. The law has been interpreted to mean no one can ride in back of
truck, unless in properly anchored seats and belts.

My question is: I have MVs that never had seat belts in them - also
civilian vehicles. What has been experience other people have had, can I be
ticketed for no seat belts?? What about troop seats in MVs, can people ride
in them??

Our local law enforcement people have made revenue enhancement from this.
The main street through our little town is 3 lanes, one driving lane each
way and a turn lane. After sundown the police will park an unmarked car in
the turn lane and as you approach it they shine spot light in car, if seat
belts are not fastened the uniform officer standing just behind parked car
directs you to parking lot where you are written a citation. Parking lot is
used so no flashing blue lights will give warning. They wrote over 20 first
night. Cost is 10 dollar fine and court costs raise total to 150 +. It
was very profitable and has been done several more times. Of course they
find other things such as no driving permit, alcohol, expired tags, improper
child seats and so on. I do not really have a problem with it for I wear my
seat belts, an accident where I was only one not injured and only one
wearing seat belts convinced me.
