Most of you should have heard about this already, but in case you haven't.  February 18-20, 2005
The State of Texas Parks and Wildlife is sponsoring a huge parade and reenactment battle at the Nimitz Museum, The National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredricksburg, Texas just north of San Antonio.

Thursday, February 17, 2005 (D2)
Iwo Jima Veterans arrive
Reenactors and Military Vehicle owners welcome to arrive if they have given special advance notice of an early arrival
Friday, February 18, 2005 (D-1)
0800: Registration check in opens for reenactors and military vehicle owners
1000 to 1900: free admission to the Admiral Nimitz Museum for reenactors, vehicle owners, participants and their families, who have been through registration.
1900 Hours: Unit commanders briefing in billeting area
2000 Hours: Event briefing for all participants in billeting area
Note: All reenactors and military vehicle owners that wish to take part in the parade must arrive no later than 0600 on Saturday, February 19t, and are strongly encouraged to arrive before 2400 hours on Friday, Feb. 18th.
Saturday, February 19, 2005 (D-Day)
60th Anniversary of the start of the assault on Iwo Jima
0500: Reveille
0530: Breakfast
0630: Begin packing all POV’s and military vehicles for movement to
reenactment site and/or parade
0700: All vehicles move to assembly areas
0800: WWII vehicles and troops begin to line up for parade
0900: Opening ceremonies in front of Admiral Nimitz Museum
1000: Parade begins, flyover of World War II aircraft.
1100: Parade ends. All WWII vehicles will be placed in the front of the
parade so that they may be loaded onto transports for movement to the reenactment site as they exit the parade. POV’s of participants and WWII vehicles move to reenactment site.
1200: Troops and vehicles arrive at the event site. K ration lunch issued.
Safety briefing for all participants at battle site. You must attend this briefing to take part in the reenactment battle!
1300: Living History displays by troops and vehicles not taking part in the
battle. Troops and vehicles pre-position for battle.
1400: Battle reenactment begins
1500: Battle reenactment ends. Troops greet and interact with public.
Living History and vehicle displays resume.
1800: Texas Bar-B-Q
2000: Free tours of Admiral Nimitz National Museum of the Pacific War
2300: Free tours of the museum end
Sunday, February 20, 2005 (D+1)
0800: Reveille
0900: Prep battlefield, vehicles, and weapons
1000: Safety briefing for all troops and vehicle owners
1100: Living History and Military Vehicle displays begin
1200: K ration lunch issued
1300: Troops and vehicles pre-position for battle reenactment
1400: Battle reenactment begins
1500: Battle reenactment ends. Troops meet crowd. Living History and
Vehicle displays resume.
1700: Event ends.
Participants may depart after the end of the battle reenactment as their own schedule dictates. Those who wish to stay overnight on Sunday are welcome to do so.
Monday, February 21, 2005 (D+2): President’s Day
All Day: Troops and vehicles depart.
1000 to 1700: Free admission to the museum for all reenactors, participants
and their families,
