Description
The US Army Heritage and Education Center, US Army War
College, seeks to purchase a General Sherman tank
issued to and used by American Troops during World War
II in original and/or significantly restored
condition. Tank must meet the following spe
cifications and condition to be accepted by the
Government for Purchase: 1. Tank must be in good
operating condition, having all of its drive train,
tracks, gearing and motor. (a demonstration that
the tank is in operable condition is required). 2.
Tank s serial and contract numbers must match those
that were issued to the US Army. 3. Tank must be
in displayable condition for outside exhibit.
There should be little visible sign of excessive wear
and tear, paint color and insignia should match tanks
that saw service in the US Army European theater
of operation. 4. The tank should be equipped with a
75mm main gun that is intact and clean with all
controls in operable condition. 5. The tanks turret
should have all of its hatches intact and the traverse
gear should be operable. 6. Any support parts or
equipment will be provided as part of the sale of the
tank. 7. include all, maintenance records and manuals
available, operational training and known maintenance
requirements. FOB destination is Carlisle Barrac
ks PA. Offers shall be in writing and will be
evaluated on a best value basis with techincal
condition significantly more important than price.
This is a combined solicitation/synopsis, there are no
other solicitation documents. Offers of a tank
more th an 100 miles from Carlisle Barracks PA shall
include photographs and written condition assessment.
