I remember than in ancient times Brass bolts were used, has this fallen out
of favor or is / was there a difficulty I do not remember?
Brass bolts ? ---- Brass nuts I`ve seen on British MVs & other vehicles !
The only difficulty was that the steel bolt/stud would rust and in undoing
the nut would strip the nut thread ! Solong as you got it off them
rethreading
the stud was easy and the force required to remove would not normally break
the stud !
Next problem--- COST !
The best combination would be 316 stainless studs /bolts and brass nuts with
spring washers !
Anyone with a lathe would be able to make them , including me !{ but
shipping might be costly }
