It is installed in the fuel filter base and held in place with O ring and
spring clip.

I suppose with me not seeing it, why would you use a rubber plug? Does it
not thread into a standard pipe thread? Where exactly does it go?

Hey,

Well first of, thank you Stu for getting that information from your friend.
My reasoning is that if its only used for the STE-ICE diagnostics plug under
the dash, then it serves no other systems on the truck. Hell, I was so
pissed at mine I unplugged it, and the truck started like it normally would
when warm, no problems. If you unplug it the only thing thats going to go
wrong is that if you ever plug STE-ICE in, its going to say you have a bad
transfer pump. My understanding is that when the switch fails, it has
nothing to do with electrical, and the switch not opening or closing
electrical contacts, it has to do with the stupid POS cracking from here to
(Insert faw away place here) and back. I would see no problems plugging it
with a nice slightly oversized rubber plug. It might deteriorate over time,
but who knows. Thats my take on it.

Caleb
