The instructions in the field manual are quite clear on this subject:

"Rails - truck/cargo/M35/loading/weight/(rail) - method of:"

"Load one fewer rail than the total amount necessary to blow out all tires."

"In the event that the quantity of rail necessary to blow out all tires is
not known, a field expedient should be utilized:

1 Load rails, one by one, until tires blow out.

2 Remove one rail, and return to quartermaster via established inventory
protocol.

3 Count remaining rails.

4 Unload rails and place in pile.

5 Assign one soldier to guard pile of rails.

6 Change all tires.

7 Reload truck with pile of rails.

In the event that tires blow again, repeat steps 2 through 7."
