The tan packages are the newer ones, those are pretty good and fresh.
The dark brown packages are 10 to 15 years old, still edible but not as
fresh, and starting to get a plasticy taste. The clear packages are
commercial contract, but still made to GI specs, good stuff. I just buy
them at gun shows and flea markets. I regularly find them for $2 to $4
a piece, about $3 ea is average. The tan packages state on the bottom
in print "GOVERNMENT USE ONLY, COMMERCIAL RESALE UNLAWFUL" or other such
sh*t. Only the pencil pushers in the Pentagon care about that, GIs
don't, and you'll find these things for sale everywhere with the
statement on it. My opinion, we paid for it once with our taxes, so
they belong to us in the first place.

I wouldn't pay more than $4 a piece, or $45 a case for them. There are
too many people selling them for less than that. Also, I think Major
Surplus was selling them by the pallet load for really cheap, you might
want to check them out.
