The right sounds....
The cylinder has to charge and exhaust going from forward to reverse.
Many times only one of the "charge" sounds is mistaken for proper
operation. The only simple way to confirm transfer movement is to
charge the air system, secure the truck so it will NOT roll, and put
someone underneath listening to the case. (or check pressure on both
sides of the operating cylinder) there should be a noticeable "Clunk"
going into reverse and also into forward. If you get a clunk only into
reverse and then a vent (which is what I suspect you will get) then
forward is not engaging. The transmission valves can be temper mental
sometime.
