Just wanted to say thanks to all the folks who made me feel at ho,e at
Aberdeen. For as long as I've been in this hobby this was the first rally I've
attended.`Got to meet up with a few friends and shake hands and put faces with all
the folks I've spoke with and emailed with over the years. Finally got to meet
Mighty Joe Young. When I announced my presence at his spots he invited my son
and I up into the back of his M35A2 where he was sitting. Felt special, like
royalty being up there with Joe. Thanks Michelle for entertaining Jonathan.
Finally got to meet Pat Lombardi after all these years. We always seem to miss
each other here in FL but when he found out a guy with a kid in a wagon was
looking for him, he came and found me. Thanks Pat for letting us crawl all
through the M114. I hope my son didn't toss too many switches. Jeff Symnanski of
Tactcal Truck picked me out of the crowd and introduced himself and his son Henry
(and Rhino). I also got to me up with the wit of the List Ronzo Johanson.
Ronzo's generosity goes far as he showered my son with toys, so many that he
became confused playing with them. I became confused trying to store them for the
trip home too. I also got to meet with folks like John Winslow who invited me
to stop by his place on the way home. Good thing too, as the night before I
lost the top on my truck. Rick Theirs was there too and we talked for some time.
The list just goes on and on;
Cabell Garbee (thanks for all the help with my first convoy)
Bruce Kalin ( quite and experience and I owe you a shirt)
All the folks in the Convoy were real friendly and it was a blast. Up to this
point the only convoy I've ever attended was made up of my own trucks. It
was an experience I'll not soon forget. Got to meet up with some friends too.
Bjorn Brandstedt and his son Adrian who largely entertained my son during the
event. Hey Adrian, "Whats your name?" Bruce Kubu who showed up with the most
awesome M932 tractor. I drove this thing and It's wicked awesome. It's not
everyday you get to drive a vehicle nicer than most active units vehicles. This is a
big tracotr with an auto trans and man, it's an experience. Bruce, thanks for
everything over the years. My friend Dave Olchak from Steel Soldiers. We
covered some miles walking around that place. All together the trip was a success.
Ran the truck about 2200 miles with only one coolant leak issue that was
quickly repaired. Managed to pick up a few small items while there. Stopped in
Fayettevill SC and picked up some tires I won on Ebay. Now have 8 really decent
tires to put on the truck. Nothing but good things to say about the convoy and
rally. If I missed your name please forgive me. It was a big experience. For
those who ever thought of traveling in a deuce with a 3 yr old, it can be
done. Took some extra time but my son Jonathan had a great week and still wants
to get back in the truck. Deuces with car seats are cool!
Best Regards,
Kenny Engle
