Subject: [MV] problems with parades, / re-enactors's

Well, never one to pass up a chance to poke a stick in someones eye,
here's my tanke on this.
Been busy all weekend at teh Kansas City Militaria show. Atteneded by
both mVPA local club members ( ALL who dressed in uniform & gear
appropriate to the era of their respective vehicles)
Also there were several re-enactors who had vehicles there who were
dressed up as well. So with that I feel I have some pretty recent take
on this thread.
First off I dunno what part the MVPA played in mr. Sherrers parade
through the countryside, but it seems more that this was HIS idea and
therefore he can set the guidelines to HIS event.
Now the downside is, I am unfortunatly very familiar with this
particular individual and he is very hypocritical. He likes to play the
part of the wronged person, and states that if you don't know him you
can't critisize him. Got a news flash, theres a lot of people that do
know him pretty much think he's an ass.
I'd call him a first class jerk, but the rest of the first class jerks
would protest. Lets just say that once you wind him up, ya can't shut
him off easily, & before you know it he's running around behind you using
bits of your converstions to try to sway others to his side. Seen it
very much first hand. He's such a problem that we attempted to "limit"
his particpation out in our area of the country, but he insisted so much
on making a nuicanse of himself he practically singlehandedly was
responsible for the demise of an event that many re-enactors had spent
years building up.
ANYWAYS, he is just one person, and if he just stays in his little
niche he has built for himself, we can choose to work wiht him, or not. I
( & many I know) choose the latter at most opportunities.
I figger he'll respond, & try to continue this nonsense, but I now know
the best way to deal wiht him is to ignore him. He continues to dig his
own hole without much help.
On the re-enactors wearing ribbons, etc. With the units of
re-enacotors you should also have soem wearing rank so they can be in
chagrge, just like the real world. Also some older ones can simulate
time in grade by wearing certain insignia / badges to make it appear
correct to the "impression".
One of my "impressions I do is a Sgt. in the SS. To make this more
realistic I wear certain ribbons to signify awards that would have
possibly been worn by a soldier of that era of that rank. Nope, I didn't
earn them ohter than that over the years i have attended mANY events of
different types and in most re-enacotr groups, that ishow you "earn"
rank, etc. So many events, so many years, etc. This is how we do it,
the closest we can do to real life.
